What it is
Lip filler uses soft hyaluronic-acid gel to add volume, shape and hydration to the lips. Your injector can focus on definition along the border, a little extra body in the center, or balancing asymmetry — all dialed to the look you want. Because it's HA-based, results can be built gradually and dissolved if desired.

Risks & side effects

- Swelling and bruising for several days — expect lips to look bigger than the final result at first
- Lumps or asymmetry, which can usually be massaged or dissolved
- Rarely, filler entering a blood vessel (vascular occlusion) — a medical emergency. Your injector must know how to recognise it and carry hyaluronidase to dissolve the filler
- The FDA has not approved needle-free devices for injecting fillers, and does not approve injectable silicone for cosmetic use
